- His parents were Thiru. M.S. SamugaSundaram Pillai and Thirumathi Kamatchyammal, who upheld
the values and traditions of their heritage.

Education:
- Uyas Thiru. Ramanathan Ayya, had his easily education in Radhakrishna Primary School till
fifth Standard and lates on, in sirth form in UmaMaheswaranar High School. He pursued his
Studies from Seventh form till 11-th form in St. Peter’s High School. He continued his
P.U.C. Course in Sir. Push Pam College in Poondi. Furthest he joined in Samiyappa
Co-Operative Institution and had his diploma.
His Meritorious Service:
After the demise of Tamilavel Umamaheswaranar, Karanthai Tamil Sangam lost its Venous &
strength.
From 1969 to 1982, nobody came forward to take up the Presidents hip of karanthai Tamil
Sangam. Like a obit came from the blue, Young and energetic Uyas Thru. Ramanathan boldly
Came forward with full of hopes to take up the President ship. At that time, Tamil Sang am
was financially unsound. It is because of the energetic bold decision taken step by step, &
financial conditions were improved.
At the time his President ship, for fourteen years, and latest on as Secretary from 2000
till now. The remarkable Service is done by him are as follows:
- Thatched shed classrooms were
converted into solid terrace buildings.
- Karanthai Pulavar Kalloori
was upgraded into a fully-fledged Arts College with recognition from Bharathidasan
University.
- A cement bridge was
constructed between the school campus and the grounds across the Vadavaru River.
- A retaining wall was built
along the Vadavaru River bank.
- A compound wall was raised
around all sides of the ground.

A large hostel named "Umamaheswaranar Ulaganayagi" was constructed, featuring a spacious
library on the upper floor. The library contains books across all branches of studies,
the latest journals, research papers, encyclopedias, and more, adding great value to the
institution.
- The "Sundaravinayaga Temple,"
located at the center of the school premises, was renovated during his tenure.

A massive rally was organized to emphasize the need for declaring ancient Tamil
(Classical Tamil) as a classical language by the Government of India.
- The central hall, often
visited by eminent Tamil scholars, was converted into a modern auditorium.

A newly constructed "Tamil Perumandram" hosted scholars from various disciplines, where
they united and demanded the declaration of Tamil as a classical language.
- One crore signatures were
collected from villages and towns to support the demand for Tamil as a classical
language.
- In 2004, the Umamaheswaranar
Teacher Training Institute was established, followed by the Uma Maheswaranar College of
Education.

The large playground was reconstructed with an investment of over 10 lakhs, designed to
host tournaments even at the highest levels. It stands as one of the largest and most
spacious playgrounds in Tanjore town, adjacent to the school and college premises.
